Founded by C P Krishnan Nair, owner of The Leela Group, which he named after his wife. Nair went on to buy a 11 acres property near his house in Sahar Village, Mumbai to build his first hotel, The Leela Mumbai, in 1986. The first luxury hotel near the current Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.
The group have come a long way since 1986, having established themselves as a leading Luxury 5 star Hotel.
Leela Palace Chennai boasts 2,601 sq m of banquet and meeting facilities, including a 1,390 sq m ballroom and a roof-top function terrace. A traditional landscaped courtyard, restaurants and bars, a 1,394 sq m health club/spa and a 1,060 sq m boutique retail plaza.There are 6 luxurious meeting rooms in the hotel.They have also put forth a comprehensive strategy to collect water on a major scale from rain water harvesting.
